"Tuiflsrijtt" is Bavarian/Austrian for “devil's ride” and associates both the Krampus runs and the history behind the Krampus figure (myth, legend and tradition). The album functions as a bridge across the borders of this world to the devil's realm and the Rauhnächte, conjuring not only the dark Krampus figure who tortures the flesh with his rods and chains and carries off the doomed souls, but also the essence of the Drude, who torments her victims, Perchten, who take the souls away to the realm of the dead and the raging demons of the Wild Hunt.

"Tuiflsrijtt" is a consistent further development of the existing concept. Atmospheric Black Metal with an old school touch of the 2nd wave, which, however, has clearly increased in speed and aggressiveness compared to previous releases.
 

Originally recorded in 2010-2011 with various line ups and released as a split with Sturmtiger in 2015

Fans of the band can therefore look forward to seeing what roar-along anthems CHOTZÄ have in store for them on their new album.

Never before have the band sounded so invigorated, so robust and roiling in their sweepingly sumptuous ruminations; the aim may be for mystical black metal of a most mid-'90s vintage, but the palpable physicality present here puts Ymir in rarefied company, whether it's past or especially present. Suitably, YMIR create epic screeds which open portals of the imagination and ancient consciousness alike, reverent to the old ways of noble black metal faith but by no means tethered to reductive expression: simply put, YMIR are a black metal band and Ymir is a black metal record, but their collective scope is boundless, brave, and breathing deeply of an essence few are able to grasp in the nowadays scene.
