Recorded in the solitude of an attic on the French side of the Pyrenees, The Dragging Poison marks the first full-length opus from Noirsuaire, the one-man vessel of creator N. Conceived in isolation, the album channels the raw and arcane spirit of the late '90s French Black Metal underground, drawing upon the same venomous well that birthed cult entities such as Bekhira, Seigneur Voland and Funeral, while summoning the spectral aura of Nastrond, Marduk and Cultes des Ghoules.
Mixed and mastered with unflinching precision by Sébastien Tuvi at BST Studios (known for his work with Hell Militia, Sotherion), the record strikes the perfect balance between suffocating atmosphere and scything aggression. Contributions from select guests add further depth to the cursed liturgy: young organist Mildrac imbues the interlude “Withering Veins” with ecclesiastical grandeur, while BST himself lends venomous vocal incantations to “Fogged By The Leaves of Pestilence”—a piece dedicated to Nisse Karlén of Sacramentum.
Thematically, The Dragging Poison delves into the shadows of forgotten European folklore, the nocturnal hunger of vampirism, and the solemn path of old-fashioned Devil worship. These obsessions are clothed in a visual mantle of darkness through the cover art of acclaimed painter David Thiérrée (Behemoth, Warloghe), whose work mirrors the album's aura of archaic malignancy.
The Dragging Poison is not an attempt at innovation—it is a statement of devotion. A poisoned chalice offered to those who still revere the cold, untamed essence of Black Metal as it once was: uncompromising, ritualistic, and unburdened by modernity.

Reissue from the 2007 EP. Follow-up to the classic “Vado mori” album and my favourite material from the band. Originally released by NWN and Bird Of Ill Omen. Available again by NWN and Heidens Hart with 23 minutes of bonus material on side B, making this basically a full length at 47 minutes. All records come on white/grey/black marble vinyl and include an insert with lyrics etc. Great Pest sound at its peak.
Since their formation in 2007, MINENWERFER have pursued a proud 'n' pure vision of black metal idiosyncratically focused on World War I - idiosyncratic, in the sense that the band hail from America but mostly sing in German. What has resulted is a startlingly accomplished canon that has quietly built itself into prolific proportions, with their first album arriving in 2010, followed by albums in 2012 and 2019, and a slew of split releases and EPs in the interim.

For a decade now, Finland's WHITE DEATH have built a small-yet-formidable canon of work that's come to define modern underground black metal in their nation. It's no secret that Finland has possessed one of the most potent black metal scenes from the early '90s onward, and with each new generation that picks up the torch, some are contenders and others are just content to uphold "the Finnish sound.
