For a decade now, Finland's WHITE DEATH have built a small-yet-formidable canon of work that's come to define modern underground black metal in their nation. It's no secret that Finland has possessed one of the most potent black metal scenes from the early '90s onward, and with each new generation that picks up the torch, some are contenders and others are just content to uphold "the Finnish sound.

This album was created from grief. A prayer to the ones who bear healing and convalescence.

ReRelease 2023

Originally released in various limited editions since early 2019, Burning Banners of the Funereal War began the saga that is WARMOON LORD. Arguably the best-kept secret of the ever-fertile Finnish black metal underground, the band is the sole work of one Lord Vrajitor, a prolific figure in the wider Finnish music underground, but also concurrently the mainman of Old Sorcery. But whereas that band largely/mostly works within the dungeon synth genre, WARMOON LORD is pure & proud black metal of a most fantastical nature - equally medieval, maybe even more so, but burning with icy-hot passion that so fired the second wave during the mythical 1990s.

 

"Tuiflsrijtt" is Bavarian/Austrian for “devil's ride” and associates both the Krampus runs and the history behind the Krampus figure (myth, legend and tradition). The album functions as a bridge across the borders of this world to the devil's realm and the Rauhnächte, conjuring not only the dark Krampus figure who tortures the flesh with his rods and chains and carries off the doomed souls, but also the essence of the Drude, who torments her victims, Perchten, who take the souls away to the realm of the dead and the raging demons of the Wild Hunt.

"Tuiflsrijtt" is a consistent further development of the existing concept. Atmospheric Black Metal with an old school touch of the 2nd wave, which, however, has clearly increased in speed and aggressiveness compared to previous releases.
 

Alas, 2024 has proven to be predictably bountiful for ORDER OF NOSFERAT, as The Absence of Grace arrived as the snows began to melt - and now, as those snows soon take hold, so does yet another full-length.

Reprint 2022

Reissue from the 2007 EP. Follow-up to the classic “Vado mori” album and my favourite material from the band. Originally released by NWN and Bird Of Ill Omen. Available again by NWN and Heidens Hart with 23 minutes of bonus material on side B, making this basically a full length at 47 minutes. All records come on white/grey/black marble vinyl and include an insert with lyrics etc. Great Pest sound at its peak.
